Inspired Collective

Oct 25 2011

I’m completely in love with the oh-so-inspiring blog of Luna and Chloe Weddings (and have featured a few of their handmade treasures), so I was thrilled to discover that Kristi also deals in vintage rentals, going by the name of Over the Moon. I was therefore super excited to hear that she is also involved in a new project called Inspired Collective;

“Our goal is to help brides stay calm and stay inspired to create a wedding with personality. From crafty details to budget issues we want to be there through highs and lows offering advice, inspiration, and recommendations to keep on track and inspired. Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Campbell, CA, Inspired Collective offers crafting and meeting spaces, must-have bridal accessories of the season, and several very unique services that you won’t find anywhere else such as Bride Chat and our brand new DIY Rental Marketplace.”

They Are: Delbarr Moradi Photography :: Huckleberry Karen Designs :: Josephine Harmon Fine Makeup Artistry :: Charmed Events:: Fox + Fawn Bakehouse :: Floral Theory :: Bustle Events :: Heritage + Craft Vintage Rentals :: Kim + Niki Photography :: Over The Moon Vintage Rentals :: Grapevine Favors :: Encarnacion Photography

I came across these photographs of Kristi’s beautiful Inspired Collective displays, and was simply dying to share them with you! Click on the headings to read all about Over the Moon’s ideas and methods behind each design.

Wedding Photographer Carlie Statsky’s Junk Shop Treasures

Oct 18 2011

I was pretty excited when wedding photographer Carlie Statsky offered to share with us some of the wonderful pre-loved and handmade wedding treasures that she has the joy of photographing. There really are some exquisite ideas here, and of course beautiful photography!…

Adore the combination of rustic, earthy colours, with vibrant accents! Easily achieved with a few cans of spray paint combined with burlap and bare wood!

Ah, mismatching! I spy junk shop glassware! LOVE!

Origami- so pretty! There are loads of origami tutorials online ranging from basic for beginners (like me) to wonderfully intricate for those more confident! Google it, go on and share the results with us!

I simply adore the idea of suspending flowers in trees!

Loving these little wire baskets too- you could fill them with all sorts of wonderful bits, flowers, pre-loved buttons, or of course candles.

What a wonderful favour idea! Sweet, simple and budget friendly! Massive fan of handwritten signs too!

A handmade bouquet is such a lovely touch, especially if it’s made by a friend or family member especially for you! This would be a beautifully simple way to dress your bouquet.

LOVE personalised wine bottle labels too- extra special! You could either make your own, or you can have them made online (another one for Google)!

You can get these 3D card letters from loads of craft stores- Hobbycraft and Michaels to name a couple and of course some smaller independent ones too, and they look just gorgeous covered in patterned paper. I have discovered that floristry paper is the perfect thickness for this. Stick it down with PVA or Mod Podge and don’t worry about the wrinkles- they add character! Then coat them in lashings of slightly watered down PVA for a solid, more durable finish.

Great escort cards/favours! And another cute hand-painted sign! Love them! Gorgeous napkin presentation and gorgeous napkins!

How special is this ‘guest book idea?! Love it when ideas are completely unique!

Little vintage treasures like these two can be found tucked away in many junk/charity shops- dig deep!

Great way to display photos- loving the rusty wire fence!

Adorned ribbons- so pretty! Imagine a wall of them! Ok, so they may take a while to make, but so worth it!

Burlap and feathers- stunning combination, but how precious is the name tag tied to a stone- much love!

Another hand-painted sign and the lucky horse shoe is the cutest touch!

Oh and you just can’t beat rusting machinery…

Wow- a tablescape to die for! The use of moss is surprisingly pretty! All the glass vessels work so beautifully in contrast.

Am so into bright colours at the moment! Don’t you just love them?! Fabulous handwritten table name too!

And more spray paint needed for those junk shop gems!

Painted plant pots- cheap and very cheerful! These would make awesome favours!

There are tutorials ruffled paper pom-poms all over the place and I absolutely adore them! Google!

Thanks so much to the lovely Carlie for sharing these wonderful treasures with us! Aren’t they fabulous?!

Friday’s Tid-Bits (Week21)

Oct 14 2011

Sharing with you some of my favourite pre-loved, shabby chic and vintage treasures that I’ve stumbled upon whilst doing my research…

Left: What a fun idea for centrepieces, particularly if you’re having lots of children at your wedding! They look bold and beautiful and they’ll keep the little lovelies quiet! You could even leave some little note cards next to the jar for your guests to write multi-coloured well wishes on! Oh, the possibilities! (By Nicole Hill Gerulat, styled by One Charming Party).

Right: How clever- blackboard oil cloth! Perfect for favour bags or even a picnic lunch! Cute right?! (Via Fresh Home).

Loving this! What an amazing centrepiece idea! Although I’d stuff them full of flowers, fresh, paper or fabric so they’re overflowing! I often find myself swooning over vintage shoes, trouble is they’re often a size4 (UK) or smaller! Now I have an excuse to buy them! Whoop! (From Sweet Peach)

Lady Bonin’s Tea Parlour! Wow! This South African gem, has inspired me no end! Do we have anything like this in the UK? Or the US? Do give me a shout if you know of any, as I’d love to feature them!

Simply ADORE this little tutorial on PaperVine! Cute wedding gift for your groom/bride or even as a guestbook… ’52 secrets to a happy marriage’ perhaps?!

I HEART STAMPS! The thought of being able to just stamp your design on ANY surface really excites me- so much fun to be had! This hand carved rubber Union Jack stamp was made by Skull and Cross Buns on Etsy. They have loads of the cutest stamps for you to choose from and even do custom ones!

Biggest loves: mismatched treasures and multi-colours! So of course my heart skipped a beat when I saw this from My Blonde Ambitions! Swoon!

Hope you are suitably inspired by today’s Tid-Bits! Which is your favourite?

Treasured Tutorials

Oct 11 2011

I live for DIY turorials, teaching you how to make your own treasures for the home, the wardrobe and of course your wedding. The thing I love the most about doing it yourself, is the ability to tweak and adjust as you go, using the tutorial only as a base, thus creating a unique one off piece, that most importantly, is YOU!

With this in mind, I have gathered a few of my favourite tutorials for you to swoon over, draw inspiration from, create and adapt…

First up, this incredible ‘How to Make a No-Sew Ruffled Christmas Tress Skirt’ by the wonderffully talented Marian Parsons of Mustard Seed Interiors for HGTV.com. I know Christmas is a swear word at the beginning of October, but I assure you that I am presenting this tutorial as wedding inspiration, (use it at Christmas too though if you like- go mad)! If like me, you are obsessed with ruffles, you’ll be picturing ruffled skirts on EVERYTHING at your wedding- on chairs, on tables, around lamps, cake stands, vases… cover the walls!

Doily garland ladies! Oh the beauty! Doilies are so versatile- I’ve seen so many different doily tutorials on my travels… hmm I feel another blog post coming on! Let Paper & Velvet guide you in making your own garland and let me know how you get on!

Oh my! How spectacular is this ‘mini veil’ featured on Offbeat Bride, including a video tutorial! Heart skipped a beat?! Mine did!

Less of a tutorial from Design Sponge here, more a visual demonstration, but I think these photos speak for themselves! Jam/mason jars can be recycled to create all sorts of things: fill them with flowers, stuff them with sweets as favours or for your desert table, tea light holders (pierce the lid for oxygen), in fact if you made a hole big enough, you could pop a straw through the lid and fill the jars with cocktails or lemonade for the kids. Whatever you come up with, these cute lids would finish them off beautifully!

I found this Picasa photo via Pinterest, of a newspaper cutting with instructions on how to bake ‘mini-cakes’. Don’t you just love them! What an awesome alternative to cupcakes! You just MUST leave them in their tins, by way of presentation- how cute?! You could decorate the tins with ribbons and tie labels on them, describing the treats within! Scrumptious!

So incredibly simple, yet so impactful! You could dot these around your venue as little notes, labels, instructions, directions etc! Cute right?! Nothing in our home is going to be left unblackboardified! Tutorial on The Rambly Blog.

So beautiful! Craft your own linen wedding invitations! Time consuming, but in my opinion well worth it! This inspired tutorial is featured on Offbeat Bride.

Oh the beauty! Love the combination of these DIY doily lanterns with hydrangeas! Perfect for centrepieces, hanging decorations and so on. You could even make little ones and attach them around each bulb on a string of fairy lights- pretty! Created by Sarah Montes and featured on Glamour and Grace.

So sweet- a DIY guest book, so to speak, with hanging well wisher notes by Hilton Pittman Photography and featured on Wedding Chicks! Truly unique, but only if you adapt it to really make it your own- it could be pretty, delicate and femine like this one, or bold, vibrant and bursting with pattern and design!

I do hope you have been greatly inspired by this wedding DIY tutorial compilation. If so, I would LOVE to see the results!

Friday’s Tid-Bits (Week20)

Oct 7 2011

Sharing with you some of my favourite pre-loved, shabby chic and vintage treasures that I’ve stumbled upon whilst doing my research…

Completely head over heels (pardon the pun) for these vintage twenties brocade peeptoe shoes… aren’t you?! They were whipped up on Etsy, unsurprisingly, but it just goes to show what beauties there are out there for the taking! (From Mama Vintage on Etsy)

How darling is this little burlap pouch save the date?! Bowled over by the thought and creativity that went into this. Head over to Sparkle & Hay to find out what all these little clues mean… so romantic!

Left: Buttons in vases- a wonderfully unique rustic looking touch! Love the way they contrast with the fresh, clean pinks of the pretty flowers! Ooo, you could use pennies too! (Found via Pinterest)

Right: If you’re a Junk Shop Bride regular, you’ll know I am a massive admirer of the creative imaginations of Luna & Chloe. Just look at these gorgeous little happy tear hankies! Brings a little happy tear to my eye!

What a wonderful party spread display on Too Stinkin’ Cute! Say no more! Just sit back and draw inspiration!

Wedding program fan- love multi-purposing! These are made from scrapbook paper, but you could use wallpaper samples, wrapping paper, book pages or even fabric! I found this great tutorial on Goodness Recycled.

Another burst of inspiration on Love My Dress- little tin buckets filled with sweets- an adorable display idea! LOVE the little tags too!

I do hope you have found inspiration here for your own junk shop wedding- which idea takes your fancy?
